Dice Girls

Dice Girls was the first of two installations created for Composing Fashion, an off-schedule London Fashion Week event at the ICA on 19th Feb 2003. Rob worked closely with fashion designers to incorporate interactive imagery and random processes into the fashion show format.

The piece was a response to fashion designer Christian Blanken‘s military-influenced collection and played with ideas of command and control. Large LEDs were projected onto screens to create a computer-controlled fashion show where models arrived on the catwalk without any instructions as to how they were to perform. Random numbers from one to six were then generated to determine their actions and route.
