Nearstill at 291 Gallery
Nearstill is an online and live installation made with artists Michael Denton and Anna McCrickard in 2001. Working with their imagery, Rob created software which generates “digital paintings” that initially appear static yet gradually shift and change, exploring repetition and randomness, familiarity and surprise.

The image can be frozen at any time, and viewers were able to order a unique digital print online (no longer available).

Nearstill was shown at the 291 Gallery and the ICA. It was available as a limited-edition CDROM from the Tate and the Design Museum.
