			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I attended Artangel&#8217;s <a href="http://www.artangel.org.uk//projects/2000/longplayer/longplayer_live/event_information">Longplayer Live</a> event at the Roundhouse today, where a 1000-minute section of the 1000-year piece of music was performed by live musicians. There was also a 12-hour series of one-to-one conversations between an inspiring combination of speakers from diverse fields, including writer Jeanette Winterson, psychotherapist Susie Orbach, cognitive neuroscientist Daniel Glaser, poet Ruth Padel and mathematician Marcus du Sautoy.</p>

In 2003, shortly after the start of the Longplayer project, I met up with the artist Jem Finer and during conversations developed an experimental visualisation of his artwork, shown below. It is intended to demonstrate the mechanic of Longplayer by compressing its 1000 years into 30 seconds.</p>
